Nature Club
Annual Report: 2016-17
To develop a sense of respect and responsibility towards Environment and Natural Resources, Doshi Vakil Arts and G.C.U.B. Science and Commerce College, Goregaon – Riagad have established Nature Club.
For academic year 2016-17 Nature Club comprises following members:

Activities Conducted by Nature Club:
- Tree Plantation Program:
College have been conducting Mallikarjun Green Hill project under which Nature Club members actively participated and planted plantlets at Malliarjun Hill situated in the vicinity of Goregaon town on 1st July 2016
- Herbarium:
Nateure Club has undertaken this innovative activity of developing Herbarium of local plants. For this students of Botany are encouraged to collect wild plants from different localities. Collected plants carefully dried and are mounted on herbarium sheets. Herbaria of more than 100 plants are developed by students and teachers of Botany.
- Gardening:
In an effort to develop sense of caring towards plants and environment, the student of Nature Club carried out activity of gardening on 20th September 2016 in the College garden.
- Mega Essay Competition:
Nature Club organized essay competition on following topics:
- Sustainable Development – Need of Time
- Biodiversity of Western Ghats
- Environmental Degradation
- Ecotourism – Status I India
- Nature and Tribal People
Total of 29 students participated in this competition and expressed their views on these topics. Following students were awarded with prizes:

- Field excursion to Raigad fort forest areas:
For the study of fauna and flora field excursion was arranged to Raigad fort and vicinity forest areas on Saturday, 25th February 2017. Students enjoyed and carefully observed characteristics of wild flora and fauna. Students collected plant specimens for Harbarium.
