Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE)

Overview

Doshi Vakil Arts College & G. C.U. B. Science & Commerce college Goregaon (District Raigad), from Academic Year 2018-19, got adhered to a recognized statutory Department of the University of Mumbai- “Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension [DLLE] (known earlier as Department of Adult and Continuing Education and Extension)”, established on October 12, 1978.

In accord to DLLE, University of Mumbai, DLLE- a statutory committee of our college, parallelly seeks to facilitate the ‘Sensitization of students to socio-cultural realities’. Undergraduate students from the Arts, Commerce & Science discipline students enrolls taking up extension work projects related to social issues, for which they are awarded 10 additional marks in their final examinations on successful completion of 120/240 hours of work, and the submission of the project report in time.

College offers six projects for DLLE enrollers, namely-

  1. Annapurna Yojana (APY), Industry Orientation Project (IOP)
  2. Population Education Club ( PEC)
  3. National Institute of Open Schooling ( NIOS)
  4. Survey of Women’s Status ( SWS)
  5. and Career Project (CP)

Enrolled DLLE students who enroll participates & performs in various activities for social awareness based on various issues/problem in the society such as Tree Plantation, Save the Girl Child, Education of Girl Child, Conservation of Biological resources, Blood donation camps, Women safety- HB checking camps, Save Food, Save Water, Pollution Control, HIV-Aids, Global warming, Child Labour, Dowry deaths, Waste management and many more. Students  creates awareness about these social problems by organizing/ conducting various activities like Rally, Street Play, Poster Making, Survey, Elocutions, Powada singing etc.

Types of Projects

  • Annapoorna Yojana (APY)

Objective: To encourage students to try their hand at entering the field of small scale business and increase self-reliance approach.
Achievement : Development of time management, decision making, interpersonal relations, planning and organization, leadership, understanding production & marketing on a small scale qualities, self-confidence, communication skills & negotiating skills.

  • Population Education Club (PEC)

Objective: Spreading awareness on burning social issues and increasing the knowledge about these among the public
Achievement: Reaching the unreached motto-achieved through interaction and awareness creation drives

  • National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)

Objective: To spread awareness about importance of education and encourage completion of education. To create awareness about concept of Open Schooling and to give information about NIOS
Achievement: Spread of awareness about education among all people.

  • Survey of Women’s Status (SWS)

Objective: To facilitate the college to obtain basic data about the status of women in the area of work
Achievement: Analysis and interpretation of data, survey and research skills development.

  • Career Project (CP)

Objective : To help students to find out information about career and enable to learn the interview technique, method of collecting information and to know about job prospects of career being explored.
Achievement: Understanding employment, related occupations and its advantages and disadvantages.

  • Industry Orientation Project (IOP)

Objective: It is a career oriented program empowering students with marketable work skills, so as to increase his/her employability.
Achievement: An entry into the world of work, opportunity to try out a career, work experience certificate, employable skills development, all round ability development and gaining practical experience in the industry.
